In loving memory of Erifuru, Kotodama Translations (May 2003 – February 2026)

Erifuru was the translator behind Kotodama Translations, a site which provided translations of Re:Zero’s side stories into English or Spanish. A large fan of characters such as Otto, Marone, and Vincent, he often focused his efforts on translating side content pertaining to them. Furthermore, he translated many of the Break Time episodes to Spanish and occasionally collaborated in WCT’s English web novel translations. He began studying Japanese in July 2018 and started translating in August of the same year. He uploaded his first translations to Kotodama Translations in mid-2020, and continued to upload his work there until closing the site in May 2025. In addition to his Re:Zero translation efforts, he drew fanart, was a noteworthy editor on the Re:Zero Wiki, and provided translations for other series, such as This Monster Wants to Eat Me.
Not only was Erifuru a prolific community contributor, but as a longtime member of English and Spanish speaking Re:Zero groups, he was an inspiration and a kind, supportive friend to many of us, both within the WCT team and outside of it. We mourn his devastating loss and deeply miss having his company. He will always be fondly remembered for the positive impact he had on us and cherished for the sweet, caring friend he was.
