Rem fights on par with Yae. It doesn’t make sense. Rem is only one step above an ordinary human. 10 current Subarus could defeat her in a fair fight. Yae is about as strong as Julius. She could easily kill all in the forest without Al, but the story said that it was very difficult for her to fight without killing. But now it’s just Rem in front of her, and even with the ban, Rem shouldn’t be able to fight longer than 5 seconds. The author in 4th time ridiculed Subaru’s suffering by writing about Subaru’s love for torture as using words about Rem’s weapon. Al seems confident of success. Apparently, he has managed to overcome his love for Emilia. Emilia and Rem are not smart, and they will not be able to handle a serious Al. A smart opponent is worse than a strong for his authority.

Yeah, I’ve always really loved Re:Zero and so far I do really like this arc too. But lately it feels like every chapter needs some to have a cliffhanger or sudden new technique to save everyone’s ass. It feels a long way away from even the Regulus fight, where being bullying boss fight was his entire schtick, and as soon as they found his weakness they kicked his ass. Right now, it feels like everyone has been significantly boosted to have these fights where it is constantly “Oh nice move, but check this out!” and then “Good one! But now I’ll do this!” and its getting a little tiring. Still love the story, and still have faith in Tappei, but its starting to feel like generic anime brick shithouse characters beating each other up because its flashy

The reason why Rem would have died is because of exhaustion, not due to the Ulgarm pack overpowering her. In her Oni form, she couldn’t maintain her rational thought process and was bitten multiple times. As a result, when the curse activated, she would have died. And on top of that she had been fighting for several hours purging all the dogs.
In the torture loop, she was holding herself back because she wanted to extract some information from Subaru, if anything she said that Subaru could have done something to her because she kept her guard low.

Like Garf, she can also both use healing magic and gather mana from the environment, except in her case it’s far more reliable as she can be in any situation instead of needing to touch the ground. Garf has the physical edge both in power and skill. In terms of ability, they are quite similar. Now, I think Garf’s desire to be “the strongest” will make it so he is always stronger than her, as Rem is not as focused on increasing her combat power.

No, it’s pretty unclear whether or not she would’ve died to the ulgarm. She could effortlessly counter the pack leader’s earth magic through shear strength, and the injuries she suffers heal before they can even become a problem because of her horn. Only reason Subaru got the jump on her is because he used Ram, the only person at the time that could make a big enough emotional impact on her to stall her actions, to distract her. Calling the cultists “ordinary trained people” is completely asinine. Their greatest advantage is their numbers, and psychotic lack of concern for their own lives. Anything short of obliterating all of them will not render anyone safe. They are designed as a swarm of kamikaze glass cannons.
In terms of magic, being able to use Al level spells before even turning 18 is the real kicker, especially considering her main method of fighting is her morning star. Besides all of that, my whole point was that she and Garf have a similar POTENTIAL combat power, not that they are equal now or even will be. To say we’ve seen Rem’s upper threshold in ability is the real headcanon when we’ve seen her fight seriously for a tiny arc at her least developed, and once against the freaking white whale, that’s it.
Rem doesn’t have the same potential as Garfiel. That’s nonsense. Demons were dedicated to taking over the world, and every demon had potential far beyond Rem. But they weren’t a disaster. They were failures who hid from the world and were driven into isolation. At the end of Chapter 3 of Volume 3 of the light novel, Subaru saved Rem’s life. The cultists are not an army, they are loners with a broken psyche. They are hated by the whole world, they are killed on sight. They can gather in groups of 20 people at most, often even less, they are always hiding. The cultists are scary only because they are associated with Satella, and also because of their mentality. A group of ordinary people destroyed a village of adult demons, each of whom was much stronger than Rem can be.
Seeing as the writing is in Subaru’s perspective, it makes sense that it would be misleading. However when Subaru traded places with Rem here, he wasn’t instantly killed. If it were Rem being caught she would’ve sustained temporary damage before overpowering all of them with Brute strength, there’s simply no way they could actually pin her the same way they did Subaru. The win condition for the ulgarm was also stated in those pages, whether they knew it or not. Draining the atmosphere of mana to force her out of demon form was going to be the only way to deal with her. Subaru did what he did because he wanted to save her, but no, she wasn’t dead at that point.
The cultists are definitely more akin to an army than a ragtag group of misfits. The little we know about them indicates they are a force that spells certain doom for their targets, as their track record until Subaru had come along was a group that shows up out of nowhere and slaughters entire communities at seemingly random. The cultists always have surprise on their side and are organized by the gospel. They move in bizarre and extremely fast ways, are able to somehow teleport, and, while not endless, have numbers far greater than 20 to launch attacks. We see almost double that just when they surround Subaru in “The Sickness Called Despair”, not even counting the dead.
And ffs arguing these events to prove some form of scaling is not conducive to any point. I’ll reiterate, Rem has not shown us anywhere near all that she is capable of. She has a lot of development left in her and she’s still incredibly powerful. She’s mostly been pitted against opponents with authorities or in this case, Yae, who was able to hold out for a ridiculously long time against Wilhelm, who would’ve freaking killed Alcanica. Power scaling in Re:Zero is also not so cut and dry. Things are often concluded in ways that differ from a simple strength or ability match up, instead knowing an opponent’s weakness or method of attack, or playing the right pieces in the right places. This isn’t a Garf dis, I’m saying Rem has a lot more to offer than you’re giving her credit for.
However I said “potential”, meaning the limit of what they could accomplish. Rem’s potential is definitely in line with what Garf’s is, if we were to control all the other variables. Again, not saying that Rem IS going to be or IS as powerful as Garf in terms of combat power, but that she COULD be if strength were to be her goal like Garf.

For Garfiel he empathized with his past.

Ngl, the one quip I have with Re:Zero is the power scaling. Emilia in arc 6 was able to basically stop time and here she cant even defeat yae without help with Rem??. I feel like Emilia should be able to beat Yae 1 on 1 pretty easily.
Teppei has always been inconsistent with powerscaling. He usually makes things happen that doesn’t make sense powerscaling wise so plot and cool shit can happen

I think Yae should have a hard but guaranteed victory over Emilia. Emilia can create mass destruction spells and kill thousands of people at once, but without such things, she’s not even in the top 10 of Lugnica. Emilia lost to Sirius, but Regulus saved her.
